Patrick Broughton (Paddy)

Having dreamed as a kid about sailing around world, Paddy left Plymouth with Keith in 1995 aboard his Swan 51 Grandee to compete in the Sydney to Hobart race in 1996, winning the racing division of the 1995 ARC transatlantic rally on the way. His racing achievements include 16 Sydney-Hobart, 4 Syd-Mooloolaba, 4 Syd-Gold Coast, 1 Transpac, 1 Fastnet, a Kenwood Cup (on the Australian team), and a number of Etchells NSW State, NZ National and World Championships. A number of those Sydney-Hobart races were on George Snow’s maxi, Brindabella with Lindsay, Bob, Tony, Grant and Matt Souter; great times.
With his brother Keith he raced Kialoa II in the 2017 Rolex Fastnet Race and 2017 Rolex Sydney to Hobart Race, sailing the old clipper route back home to Pittwater, Australia from Plymouth.

Keith Broughton

As an Officer and a mine clearance diver in the Royal Navy, Keith has navigated most of the worlds seas and oceans. He joined Paddy on Grandee’s voyage to Australia 1995-96, competing in his first of five Sydney to Hobart races. Now living in UK, Keith has competed in Cork Week, Key West, Transpac, Fastnet and a number of Dartmouth Regatta’s, J-24 Campaigns, and various off-shore deliveries.

Lindsay May OAM

As navigator, Lindsay has won the Sydney-Hobart race overall a record equalling 3 times with Indian Pacific in 1984, Atara in 1991 and Love and War in 2006. He has started the race a record 50 consecutive times. He has been world 8 metre champion, Australian One Ton champion and represented Australia in the Admirals Cup (taking part in the Fastnet Race in 1983), the Southern Cross Cup and the Clipper Cup. Lindsay joined the crew for the 2017 Fastnet, 2019 Transpac, 2023 Fastnet, and 5 Sydney Hobarts.

Steven McCullum (Rowdy)

“Rowdy” is a Hobart based yachtsman with over thirty-five years of high performance one design and ocean racing experience. His record of World and Australian Championship titles along with multiple wins in the Sydney-Hobart yacht race is one of outstanding achievement, under pinning a strong understanding of the importance of team work, technology and a never give up attitude. With 25 Sydney to Hobart races under the belt and over 100,000 nautical miles to his credit, the passion of sailing is as strong as ever for this Tasmanian yachtsman. He raced the 50th Rolext Fastnet race and is looking forward to competing in the RORC Centenary Rolex Fastnet 2025.

David Sawdon (Dave)

David is a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster qualified to skipper yachts up to 200 gross tonnes as well as an experienced diver and boat handling instructor. His skill and experience have been fundamental to the project to rebuild Kialoa II. Along with Matt Sutherland, Dave has masterminded everything from planning and executing a complete engine replacement to upgrading the fuel system, replacing hatches and, importantly, keeping the project on track as time became tight. David has raced three Fastnet races and the associated qualifying events as well as a number of Open 60 two handed events including a transatlantic race. He is also the skipper of the beautiful Swan 57 yawl Valhalla and her sistership Swan Galiana. In 2017 Dave finally fulfilled a dream of competing in the Sydney-Hobart race and competed in the 2019 Transpac.

Pete Sheldrick

Bowman extraordinaire, Pete has competed in 31 Sydney-Hobart races including line honours 1997 and overall win in 2006. Races along the east coast of Australia include 9 Sydney-Gold Coast, 7 Sydney -Mooloolaba and 5 Sydney-Lord Howe. Pete has competed in a number of Farr 40 Australian and World Championships, Sydney 38 Australia Championships, the 1994 Kenwood Cup, and the Southern Cross Cup in 1989 & 1997. He is looking forward to joining old sailing mates to tick off the Transpac form his bucket list, as well as the Fastnet in 2025.

Andrew Cutler (Cutts)

Cutts, as he’s known to just about everyone, has raced in everything from 5.5m, Dragons, Etchells, J24, to two Soling Olympic selection campaigns and Americas Cup campaigns with Gretel II and Kookaburra II. His calming temperament was welcomed for the Fastnet 2017 along with his ocean racing experience of 15 Sydney-Hobarts, 2 Fastnets, and 8 Sydney-Mooloolabahs. Cutts joined Paddy on the Cape Town to Albany leg of the delivery to Australia in 2017.

George Jackson

A qualified Yachtmaster Offshore, George has completed 2 Sydney-Hobart, 3 Fastnet Races, 2 Transpac, 5 Cowes Week and 3 Round the Island Races as well as being on the crew of Rambler for the RYS Bicentennial International Regatta in 2015. A tenuous Aussie link – he did some of his Yachtmaster training up and down the East coast of Australia. A great team player and crew member.

Jonathon Manser (Jo)

A veteran of 8 Fastnet races including the 1979 race, 1 Sydney-Hobart and a Newport Bermuda race, Jo is also a world champion on the Six Meter Scoundrel in 1986. He has raced on a number of “Full Pelt” variants at the Bol d’Or and Centomillia, as well as J24s, Quarter and One Tonners. Jo also played a vital part in finding the Swan 51 “Grandee” that Paddy and Keith sailed to Australia.

Duncan Sim

A competitive Tasar racer since 2009, twilight racing on Sydney38 and TP52 piqued his interest for bigger boat racing. Duncan has competed in 4 Sydney-Hobarts and joined the Kialoa II team on delivery from Tahiti to UK 2023 and is competing in his first Fastnet race in 2025.

David Linton (Dingo)

Grew up sailing in Port Philip Bay, Vic Australia. Owned and raced Sigma 38 for 10 years in the Solent and English Channel, and raced over 20 years in the UK. Dingo, a Yachtmaster Offshore, has competed in various regattas in the Med and Caribbean, deliveries to France and Scandinavia and multiple charters in the Med, Caribbean and Whitsundays.

Cameron McCracken

Although this is Cam’s first Fastnet race he has done over 75,000 sea miles including having completed the 2023-2024 Clipper Round The World Race (1st mate on the winning yacht), 2 Sydney Hobart races (including a class win), 2 North Pacific crossings and 5 Atlantic crossings.

Craig Dymock

A professional yacht captain for 5 years on large yachts, Craig has completed 8 trans-Atlantic crossings, 1 Pacific and over 20 Cowes Weeks, class winner 5 times. Craig has competed in top regatta’s in 18 countries over 25 years and competes on his own 28ft racing boat whenever he can.

Lauren grew up dinghy sailing in Poole. An offshore swimmer and netball player, Lauren is looking forward to her first Fastnet race.
